Ftorek collects assist in 8-4 Eagles win over All-Stars

Loveland, CO 1/15/09 - Amarillo Gorillas defenseman Sam Ftorek assisted on the first CHL All-Stars goal and managed two shots on net, as the CHL All-Stars lost to the Colorado Eagles Wednesday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

Ftorek, who is second among all CHL defensemen in scoring through Thursday, was voted as a starter in December for the annual event. He leads the Gorillas in points, and is tops amongst all defensemen in the league with 12 goals in 33 games.

The hosting Colorado Eagles (taking on the rest of the league's All-Stars in the new game format) scored five times in the third period to win, 8-4. Konrad Reeder was voted the game MVP after scoring four goals and adding an assist for the Eagles.

The Central Hockey League's schedule will resume Friday, with all 16 teams back in action. The Gorillas will play the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Friday night at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. A live broadcast of the game will be carried on 1010 AM "The Canyon", with a free, live video feed online through the CHL Network.
