Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers are inviting fans to give their favorite memories of Doug Lawrence for the ceremony to retire Lawrences' jersey number nine on January 23^rd .
Fans can visit the grand lobby of the BOK Center this Saturday night prior to the Oilers game with the Mississippi RiverKings between 6:30 and 7:30 and make a video tape of their favorite Lawrence story and recollection. The best stories will be used as part of the video tribute on the 23^rd . Videotaping will also take place during the first intermission Saturday night.
"Part of the reason we are retiring Doug's jersey is that he remains a huge fan favorite here," Oilers general manager Taylor Hall said. "So this is a great way for fans to be an even bigger part of the ceremony. I'm sure we'll get some great stories. There's a lot of them out there," he added with a laugh.
The Oilers host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Friday night at 7:35 .p.m. That is Warren Orthopedic Institute back night with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free backpack courtesy of Warren Orthopedic Institute.
Saturday it will be the Oilers and Mississippi at 7:35 with fans asked to bring their Doug Lawrence memories. Both games this weekend are Oiler family pack nights. Family packs are four tickets, four hot dogs, and four soft drinks all for just $59.
