
FSN Midwest To Televise Springfield Cardinals Game

The Springfield Cardinals have played in front of big home crowds in their first season, but none bigger than the audience of baseball fans that will be watching throughout the Midwest on Thursday, July 21. On that night FSN Midwest, the television home of the St. Louis Cardinals, will televise Springfield Cardinals baseball live from Hammons Field at 7:00 PM.
In this special presentation of FSN Midwest, the Springfield Cardinals will host the Wichita Wranglers in a match-up of the Double-A affiliates of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals. It's an opportunity for viewers throughout the region to see the two teams and the Ozark region. The game will not be shown in the Springfield market due to territorial restrictions.
"Springfield is an important part of our FSN Midwest footprint, and in just their first year the Cardinals have become a big part of sports in Missouri. We're happy to partner with the Cardinals to televise this event of local interest and to give baseball fans throughout the Midwest a chance to see the Cards new minor league franchise," said FSN Midwest General Manager and Vice President Jack Donovan."
Veteran play-by-play announcer Dave Armstrong will call the action with former Major League All-Star Andy Benes, who pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1996-1997 and 2000-2002. Currently, Benes hosts the Cardinals Crew kids show on FSN Midwest. KYTV Springfield Sports Director Ned Reynolds will report from throughout the ballpark.

Thursday, July 21, is "Red Out" day across Cardinals Country. The Springfield Cardinals encourage every person in attendance at Hammons Field to wear red to the game to put Springfield's passion for baseball on display for the television audience watching throughout the region.
FSN Midwest is the home to 110 regular season St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, and extensive Cardinals coverage in the Cardinals Tonight pre-game show and Midwest Sports Report nightly newscast. FSN Midwest reaches more than 4.3 million cable and satellite television homes in six states and telecasts more than 2000 hours of local programming each year. Nationally, FSN's 20 regional sports channels reach more than 81 million homes and serve as the cable TV home to 62 of the 82 MLB, NHL and NBA teams based in the United States.
The Springfield Cardinals are in their Inaugural Season as the AA affiliate of the 2004 National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are proud new members of the Texas League.
