Frostbite Fall to Mechanics in Shootout

FRASER, MI - The Adirondack Frostbite opened their four-game road trip with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Motor City Mechanics on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Frostbite went on top just 28 seconds into the second period with a power-play goal. Sylvain Cloutier centered a pass for Bob Rapoza in the left-wing circle, and Rapoza one-timed a wrist shot over the left shoulder of Rod Branch for his third goal of the season.

Motor City tied the game with a power-play goal of its own at 13:56. Andrei Lupandin took a shot from the left point that beat Kris Tebbs to the stick side for his sixth goal of the year.

Mark Hurtubise put the Frostbite back on top 2:57 into the final period. Ryan Bennett played the puck to the front of the Mechanics' net, and Hurtubise was able to wrist the puck over the fallen Branch for his 14th goal of the season. The assist for Bennett extended his point-scoring streak to eight games.

The Mechanics tied it with their second power-play goal of the night at 14:35. Tebbs made the initial save on a Peter Szabo shot, but the rebound sat free, and Adam Edinger was able to sweep in push the puck across the line for his 42nd goal of the season.

In the shootout, the Mechanics scored on two of four shots, while Branch stopped all four Frostbite shooters to record the win.

The Frostbite's four-game road trip continues on Saturday, as they will be in Rockford for an 8:05 p.m. ET face-off against the IceHogs. All of the action can be heard on WCKM 98.5, starting with the pre-game show at 7:45.

Adirondack returns home on Sunday, March 26, hosting the Richmond RiverDogs at 5:15 p.m. on another Family Four Pack Night.
