Danbury beats Roanoke 5-1

DANBURY, CT--Danbury's three-goal outburst over a 42-second span in the second period snapped a 1-1 tie and gave a Trashers an insurmountable lead as Danbury defeated Roanoke Valley 5-1 on St. Patrick's Day at the Danbury Ice Arena.

The Trashers jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:28 of the first period on J.M. Daoust's 25th of the season, which proved to be the only goal of the opening period.

Danbury received a wake-up call early in the second as Jan Jas' 11th of the year tied the score just 26 seconds into the second period, with the two teams playing four-on-four. Danbury's outburst started at the 2:01 mark as Shawn Collymore beat Glenn Ridler with a shot from the right wing for his 17th of the season. Collymore then fed Drew Omicioli for his 27th at 2:21, while Dave MacIsaac's 13th of the season at 2:43 was assisted by David Beauregard and Danny Stewart.

Beauregard then scored his 34th of the season and first as a Trasher at the 14:35 mark, assisted by Stewart and Donny Grover to give Danbury a 5-1 lead.

Jayme Platt started and saved 18 of 19 shots to help Danbury lift their mark to 37-15-11, while Ridler was pulled after Danbury's 4th goal and suffered the loss having stopped 12 of 16. Shawn Conschafter finished in net and saved 29 of 30 for the 15-39-6 Vipers. The Trashers are six points in front of Adirondack, who suffered a 3-2 shootout loss in Motor City on Friday.
