Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

South Burlington, VT - Aaron Cook edged teammate Antonio Burks by a single vote in fan balloting and will represent the Vermont Frost Heaves at the ABA ALL STAR game in Halifax, Nova Scotia, over the weekend of January 26 - 28.

In addition, Frost Heaves Coach Will Voigt has been named Head Coach of the East squad in light of Vermont's 16-3 record, good for No. 2 in the ABA power rankings.

Almost 200 hundred members of the Frost Heaves' online community, the Bump in The Road Club, cast ballots over the Internet during 2 days of voting last week. Cook, a shooting guard from the university of Hartford, captured 98 votes. Burks, a power forward who has played in Norway since leaving Stephen F. Austin received 97.

"The vote couldn't have been closer, but that just goes to show what a balanced team we've been throughout the first half of the season," said Frost Heaves President and GM Alexander Wolff. "And for all of Will's hard work in assembling and guiding the inaugural addition of the Frost Heaves, a chance to lead the ABA's East All Stars is a well-deserved honor."

Cook, the team's second leading scorer, is shooting 48% from beyond the arc. In the Frost Heaves' 96-94 victory at Strong Island on Saturday night, he bottomed out 8 of 13 attempted treys, including a 3-D 3 pointer - worth 4 points - in the final 2 minutes with Vermont trailing by 1. The shot gave the Heaves a 93-90 lead that they never relinquished.

Cook also sank a late game, 3-D 3 against Rochester on December 14, when he scored 7 points in 4 seconds to force overtime in a Frost Heaves victory.

Burks, who is leading the Frost Heaves in scoring, is sinking 40% of his threes. He has been named an alternate to the East All Star's and invited to participate in the Saturday 3-point shooting contest.

The Frost Heaves go into Wednesday's night game with Buffalo at Memorial Auditorium in Burlington having won 10 of their last 11, good for first place in the ABA's BLUE NORTH DIVISION. Tickets are available through the FLYNN REGIONAL BOX OFFICE at 153 Main Street in Burlington, at 159 Pearl Street Essex, by calling 802-86-FLYNN, or by going to FLYNNTIX.ORG.
