Frost Heading Back To Organized Ball
October 19, 2009 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Add Adam Frost's name to the ever-growing list of Winnipeg Goldeyes picked up by Major League organizations.
Winnipeg manager Rick Forney announced today the sale of Frost's contract to the Kansas City Royals. He becomes the 57th member of the Goldeyes to move on to organized ball after playing in Winnipeg, doing so less than a week after Baseball America ranked him as the No. 2 prospect in all of independent baseball.
Frost, 23, leaves town following a summer that saw him named Northern League Rookie of the Year. He began the season as a reserve that split time between second and third for the first six weeks before becoming full-time at short when all-star Wes Long broke his ankle on June 30.
In 84 games, Frost batted .280 with five home runs and 19 runs batted in. He also stole 30 bases, tops on the Goldeyes and good for third in the league.
Frost arrived in Winnipeg in April after going to spring training with Detroit. He batted a combined .270 in two stops in the Tigers system in 2008 after signing with the American League club out of NCAA Div. III St. Norbert College.
