Mascot Missing After Weather Balloon Floats Away

Jammer said to have climbed into a homemade helium balloon that took off and flew across the Illinois skies late last night was not inside when the contraption landed. Staff members have launched a search for him. The silver, flying-saucer-shaped balloon drifted for miles across the Illinois skies, before miraculously returning and landing gently in the outfield of Silver Cross Field.
Staff members rushed to the scene after being told Jammer had climbed inside the balloon before it became unteathered at the ballpark in Joliet, but the famous blue haired mascot was not found.
According to sources close to the situation, the homemade weather balloon was built by JackHammers' groundskeeper Nick Hill. The device was intended to help Mr. Hill better predict weather patterns for the upcoming 2010 baseball season.
"Based on the evidence of the crash site we have reason to believe that Jammer did not fall out of the balloon. He is thought to be somewhere on the ground near Silver Cross Field," JackHammers Executive Vice President General Manager, Jamie Toole, told reporters.
When asked about the situation new staff member and hall of famer, Jim Rice, said "Jammer and I have become very close friends in the two weeks that I have come to know him. If it's the last thing I do as a member of this front office I will make it my life long mission that my friend, our mascot, Jammer, returns home to Silver Cross Field."
Staff members are continuing there search for Jammer and believe he is somewhere in the neighborhood around the ballpark. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Jammer please contact the JackHammers front office at 815.726.BALL.
