'Frogs Hit Three Homers in 9-6 Win

Waterloo, IA - July 15th, 2011 - The Bullfrogs won a four and a half hour battle on the road with seven extra base hits to beat the Waterloo Bucks on the road 9-6. Green Bay hit three home runs and every starter had at least one hit as the 'Frogs scored in each of the first six frames.

Duncan McAlpine hit the first of his two home runs in the first inning. Green Bay would get three consecutive two-out base hits in the second to push across two-runs. Ryan Schilter began the rally with a double. Phillip Ervin and Jonathan Walsh followed that up with RBI singles. Walsh had his best game as a Bullfrog on Friday. He went 3-6 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI.

Ryan Allgrove drove in a two-out run with a third inning single. The Bullfrogs scored five of their nine runs with two outs. In the fourth inning McAlpine hit a two run shot to left field for his third home run of the year. In the fifth the Bullfrogs built their lead to the biggest of the game. Green Bay would load the bases and Paul Hoenecke would come across on a wild pitch to give the 'Frogs a 7-1 advantage.

The Bullfrogs' starter A.J. Gaura began the fifth inning. The lead off hitter reached on an error an eventually came into score on a sacrifice fly by Cameron Perkins who had four RBI in the game. The rain had been falling intermittently throughout the game and began to down pour with two outs and a runner on first. The umpires called for the tarp just one out away from an official game.

After a one hour and 20 minute rain delay, Mark Garcia came in to finish the fifth inning off with a strike out of Jeremy Lucas. In the sixth the Bullfrogs had a 7-2 lead with Garcia on the mound. Waterloo loaded the bases with two outs. Before Drew Walsh stepped up and hit a two-run single. After Garcia hit Hendrikson to load the bases again he gave another two-out single to Cameron Perkins that would knock Garcia out of the game and bring the Bucks to within two at 8-6.

The bullpen for the 'Frogs would sure up from there. Cameron Dullnig came in and stranded the tying runners in scoring position in the sixth and then tossed a scoreless seventh and eighth inning. John Colella closed the game out with a perfect ninth inning for his sixth save of the year.
