Lunkers Split Doubleheader with Huskies

DULUTH - The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers split a doubleheader with the Duluth Huskies on Saturday, falling in game one 5-1 and winning game two 6-2 at Wade Stadium. In game one, it was all Duluth. KC Clabough went 3 for 3 with two runs scored for the Huskies. Austin Lubinsky got the win, going five innings for Duluth. Kye Winter pitched a complete game for the Lunkers, but took the loss, falling to (3-2).

In game two, it was a different story as the Lunkers offense came alive. Steven Brault pitched five innings, giving up one unearned run to pick up his first win of the season. Dane Gronewald took the loss for Duluth.

The Lunkers put up five runs on five hits in the Bottom of the 4th inning, capped off by Winter's two-run single that put the Lunkers ahead 6-1 at the time. The Huskies would add a run in the Top of the 9th.

The Lunkers improve to (5-9) with the win, while the Huskies fall to (5-7).

The Lunkers now head into the All-Star Break. Best of luck to Lunkers Jason Forjet, Kye Winter, Joe Willman, Dan Olinger, Steven Brault and Wade Wass in the All-Star Game in Wisconsin Rapids on Monday. The Lunkers next game is back in Brainerd on July 20 against Alexandria.
