Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The RoughRiders offense stayed hot Sunday afternoon as Frisco defeated the RockHounds 6-1. The âRiders recorded 11 hits, including 10 singles, led by Craig Gentry who went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Midland struck in the bottom of the first inning on a solo homer by Chris Carter to give Midland the early 1-0 lead, but that would be the only time the RockHounds would have the advantage. Frisco quickly tied the game in the second frame on an RBI single by Joe Gaetti and took the lead in the third when Ben Harrison scored on an RBI single by Chris Gradoville to give the RoughRiders the 2-1 advantage. Frisco plated three in the sixth frame on an RBI single by Guilder Rodriguez and a two-run double by Gentry to bring Gaetti and Rodriguez home. Gentry would add an insurance run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to score Gradoville and give Frisco the 6-1 win.
In only his second start over the past two seasons, Frisco's Clayton Hamilton went four innings, allowing just one run on three hits, striking out six. Beau Jones (1-2) earned the victory in relief allowing one hit over three scoreless innings, striking out a pair, as Frisco pitching held Midland to just five total hits. Bobby Cramer (0-1) took the loss for Midland, giving up two runs over five innings.
Gentry recorded his third double over the past two games as his three RBI were a game-best. Harrison and Gradoville each scored two runs as five of Frisco's six runs were scored with two outs.
The RoughRiders and RockHounds meet tomorrow afternoon at 11:00 a.m. for the third game of the series, matching Guillermo Moscoso (2-1, 4.70) for Frisco and RHP Graham Godfrey (2-3, 4.70) for Midland.
