
Frias Dominates in 2nd Keys Start, Black Bears Launch 9th Inning Home Run

Frederick, MD - The Frederick Keys lost to the West Virginia Black Bears by a final score of 5-4 on Thursday night. Christian Lucio gave West Virginia the lead on a 9th inning two out homer.
Antonio Frias started the game for the Keys and posted the first quality start of the year for Frederick. Frias lasted into the 7th inning striking out 10 batters in the game. He is the first induvial Keys pitcher to have 10 strikeouts in a single outing this season. Frias struck out the side in the 6th inning.
The Keys opened the scoring in the 3rd inning as Jahmoi Percival launched a triple to centerfield. He came around to score on a home run by Jorel Ortega to give the Keys a 2-0 lead.
West Virginia answered with a three run homer off of Frias in the 4th inning to take a 3-2 lead.
Frederick tied the game up in the bottom half of the 4th after Jacob Godman was on base with a single. With runners at first and third, Michael Wein brought Godman home to even the score up at 3-3.
The Keys would be held silent into the 7th inning. In the 7th Wein led the inning off with a strikeout, followed by a Percival ground out. Ortega then lifted a double to centerfield, his third double in two games. He came around to score on single by Haven Mangrum, who had his second three hit game of the season.
With a lead heading into the 9th, Brayan Garcia climbed the mound in his third inning of relief. Garcia got one quick out on a strikeout before allowing Kevin Dowdell on base with a single. After a fly out, Lucio came up with two outs and launched the first pitch he saw for a game winning home run.
The Keys are back on the road against Trenton this weekend for a three game series. The Keys return home next Tuesday for a six game homestand, the longest of the season.
