Freeman and Wiseman Each Homer in Senators 5-2 Win

The Senators picked up their first win of the 2021 season with a 5-2 win over the Somerset Patriots. The Senators hit a pair of two-run home runs, one by Cole Freeman and one by Rhett Wiseman, to pace the Sens. Carson Teel and the bullpen combined to shut out the Patriots over the final six innings.

On Capitol Hill

- Carson Teel started and went five innings allowing the two runs Somerset scored. But he also pitched around trouble and tossed a double play.

- Gabe Klobosits went two scoreless and earned the win in his first appearance in Double-A.

- Alberto Baldonado tossed a perfect eighth.

- Frankie Bartow retired the side in order in the ninth for his first save.

With the Gavel

- Cole Freeman had two big hits, both coming on 0-2 pitches. In the third inning he hit a two-run home run to give the Senators the lead. In the eighth inning he drove in the go ahead run with an infield single.

- Rhett Wiseman hit his second home run in as many games, hitting a two-run shot in the ninth to give the Sens a 5-2 lead.

- Cody Wilson tripled with one out in the eighth and eventually scored the go ahead run.

Filibusters

- The win is the first for the Senators in 2021.

- They turned two more double plays and have turned five in the first three games.
