Florence, Kentucky: A crowd of 1,441 fans appeared at Champion Window Field for the Sunday night matchup between the Freedom and the visiting Chillicothe Paints. The Freedom failed to avoid the sweep, losing 2-0 in a pitcher's duel.
The game was all about pitching, Florence's Jason Bowlin (9-2) went eighth innings, giving up just two runs on nine hits, striking out four. His counterpart, John Martinez (15-2), extended his Frontier League record for single season wins, he went the distance giving up seven hits and striking out 12. The only run scoring offense of the game was off the bat of John Ramistella in the third, a two run jack, his 13th. Trevor Hall lead the offense for the Freedom, he went 3-4. Mike Galloway did a nice job in the leadoff spot once again, he went 2-4. The Freedom also got singles from Scott Pickens and Josh Sanchez.
The Freedom are off Monday, but then head out on a six game road trip through Windy City and Gateway. The Freedom return to Champion Window Field on Monday, August 22nd. Florence hangs on to their playoff spot, by just one game over these surging Paints.
