Washington Sweeps Richmond

August 15, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Richmond Roosters News Release

Richmond, Indiana - Richmond lost 4-0 Sunday night to complete the three-game sweep by the Wild Things. The Roosters could only manage three hits in the ballgame and were shutout for only the second time this season. The loss is the fourth straight for Richmond.

Washington started things in the second when Andy Hudak singled to left and scored Randy McGarvey. That gave the Wild Things a 1-0 lead, which they would hold until the seventh inning when Hudak struck again. Two straight singles by McGarvey and Ryan McGraw were followed by a three-run blast by Hudak that cleared the wall in left to give Washington a 4-0 lead. The Roosters could not get going and were shutout when the last 14 batters were retired in order. Brendon Davis (7-1) was the winner after throwing seven shutout innings, while Stephen Spragg pitched two innings of relief and struck out four of the six batters he faced. Matt Schweitzer (6-5) pitched well but still took the loss, giving up four runs on six innings pitched.

The Roosters will have an off-day on Monday before heading to Rockford on Tuesday for a three-game series against the RiverHawks. Pat Kohorst (0-0, 2.45 ERA) will make his first start of the year for Richmond.
