Florence, Ky. - The Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, suffered a heartbreaking 7-6 loss at UC Health Stadium.

Trailing 6-2, the Freedom rallied to tie the score in the eighth. Travis Weaver led off the inning by lacing his fourth home run of the season to left field. After a quick out, the Freedom put together five consecutive hits from Taylor Oldham, Andrew Godbold, Austin Newell, Jordan Brower, and Josh Henderson. The final single from Henderson tied the score at six. Chandler Jagodzinski ended up stranding the base loaded with a pair of strikeouts to keep the game tied.

Yesterday's hero, Richard Seigel, lifted the Crushers again with a go-ahead hit. The former member of the Freedom rolled a two-out single though the right side off of Pete Levitt, scoring Bryan De La Rosa and giving Lake Erie the lead at 7-6. Seigel finished the day 5-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Oldham reached on a single in the bottom of the ninth, but was picked off and the Crushers took the victory.

Seigel's first hit helped Lake Erie take the lead in the second. He singled and came in to score later in the inning on a sacrifice fly.

The Freedom evened the score in the fourth. Newell stretched a sure single into a double and then crossed the plate on a Brower RBI single.

The Crushers scored the next five runs of the game, including a pair of two-run home runs. In the sixth, a costly error with two away extended the inning before a long ball. As a team, Lake Erie has five home runs in the first two games of this series.

Oldham left the yard for the third straight game in the sixth inning to pull Florence one closer. This time it was a line shot to left field. Oldham once again led the Freedom offensively with a monster day. He finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.

The Freedom put together their big rally in the eighth before Seigel lifted Lake Erie in the ninth.

Jordan Kraus pitched 8 2/3 innings for the Freedom, allowing all seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits and three walks, while striking out three. He allowed a single and a pair of walks in the ninth before Levitt allowed the single to Seigel. Newell (two runs) and Brower (two RBIs) chipped in offensively with a pair of hits each.

Robb Paller, Sean Hurley, and De La Rosa all added two hits to help Seigel propel the Lake Erie offense. Connor Reed allowed four runs in 7 1/3 innings, but did not factor into the decision. Jagodzinski gave up just one hit, while striking out two in 1 2/3 innings.

The Freedom look to win the season series against the Crushers tomorrow. Braulio Torres-Perez will make his first appearance for the Freedom against former Florence left-hander Stetson Nelson (4-5, 4.36 ERA).
