Florence Y'alls
Rockford, Illinois: Florence came into last night's game looking to win yet another series, but Rockford was looking to be the first team to take a series from Florence since Mid-Missouri did so on way back on June 23rd.
The Freedom sent former reliever Curt Moenter to the mound, while the Riverhawks sent Derek Roper. Wally Quigg keeps on hitting, as he finished the night 2-5, raising his batting average to .274. Mike Galloway was blanked, going 0-4. Trevor Hall had a good night, hitting 2-4 with two runs scored. Trevor's batting average stands at .324. Darin Kinsolving made his one hit count, an RBI double. Scotty Martin had one hit all night, but it was a pretty one, he hit his seventh home-run of the season, his batting average now stands at .329. At the end of the night, Rockford came out on top, 4-3, in ten innings. Curt Moener pitched brilliantly for the Freedom, going seven and 2/3rds innings, giving up just one earned run on five hits, striking out eight, lowering his ERA to 2.41. Moenter got the no decision, because Justin Fuller gave up the game winning run, giving him the loss.
Four Freedom players, Mike Galloway, Trevor Hall, Joel Posey, and Mike Dennison, head to Washington for the All-Star game, along with Manager Jamie Keefe, who will be managing the East. For the first time in Franchise history, the Florence Freedom sit atop the East Division at the break.
