Richmond Roosters News Release

Richmond, Indiana - Matt Schweitzer dominated on Monday night as the Roosters won 3-1. Schweitzer pitched a complete game for Richmond giving up only one run while scattering five hits. He has suffered from poor run-support this season, but was able to get enough on Monday his second win, first since the season opener.

The Grizzlies got a run in the first when Mike Breyman crushed a ball of the wall in left-center to score Jimmy Reiter. That run would be the last that would cross the plate for Gateway as Schweitzer would shut the Grizzlies down over the next eight innings.

The Roosters took the lead in the fourth with a pair of RBI singles to left field by Rich Daly and O.J. Garza. Richmond got an insurance run in the seventh when Hector Urena singled down the right field line to score Mike Reese from second making it a 3-1 game. Neither team would be able to push another runs across as the Roosters went on to win.

The Roosters (19-26) will be off for three days due to the Frontier League All-Star Break. The 13th Annual Frontier League All-Star Game will be played at Falconi Field in Washington, Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. Four Roosters players have been selected to the Eastern Division squad: Josh Hollingsworth, Mike Reese, Kevin White, and Tony Casoli. The Roosters will continue the regular season Friday against Evansville at McBride Stadium. Gate time is scheduled for 6:35pm (Indiana time).
