SAUGET, IL - Peter Fatse drove in six runs and the Florence Freedom defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 7-0 Friday night at GCS Ballpark to win the Frontier League Divisional Series and end the Grizzlies season.
Fatse gave the Freedom a 3-0 lead in the first inning on his first postseason home run off of Grizzlies starter, Tim Brown.
Brown lasted six innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits, while suffering his first loss since June 6th at Schaumburg.
Florence scored an unearned run in the fifth, Jim Jacquot hit a solo home run in the sixth and Fatse brought in two runs on a double in the seventh to finish off the Freedom scoring.
Gateway was held to three hits and finished the season by not scoring a run in 14 consecutive innings.
A Chris McClendon double and singles by Jerod Yakubik and Jonathan Johnson were the only Grizzlies hits.
