Yuma Scorpions News Release
The Tijuana Cimarrones will host the Orange County Flyers this Tuesday and Wednesday at Desert Sun Stadium and there is no charge. Just bring your lawn chair and enjoy free GBL action on the back diamond under the lights.
The Tijuana roster will be stocked with players from the Arizona Summer League including Arizona Western coach and former Yuma Scorpion James Kuzniak. Kuzniak will be the starting pitcher in the opening game of the series at 7:00 pm on Tuesday night. The Cimarrones will be coached by former major leaguers Rusty Meacham, Alex Arias and former Scorpions fan favorite Benny Castillo.
Forty-two Year Old to Make Pro Debut
Wednesday's action features a doubleheader beginning at 6.00 pm. This will include a story right out of baseball fantasy camp. Forty-two year old Hector Corella, a groundskeeper at Desert Sun Stadium for the past five years, will be making his professional debut. Highly touted by the Florida Marlins out of high school, Corella dazzled the ASL coaches and players in a bullpen season last week. His repertoire of pitches features 90 mile per hour fastballs mixed in with sliders and a dancing knuckleball. Hector's dream has been to play one game of professional baseball and the GBL will give him his shot.
Come out and cheer on two Yumans as they take to the mound this week.
