August 12, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys did not disappoint the largest Friday night crowd of the 2011 season. Frederick plated 13 runs on a season-high 17 hits as they cruised to a 13-4 win over the Winston-Salem Dash. The Keys batted around in two separate innings and put the game out of reach with a six-run fourth inning. Not to be overlooked by the offensive onslaught was Ryohei Tanaka. Tanaka was perfect through five innings and surrendered just one hit in his eighth win of the season.

The first run on the night came in the third inning. With two out and C Brian Ward on second, 2B Jonathan Schoop doubled down the left field line to bring home Ward. The Keys quickly added to the one-run advantage in the following inning. Ward stepped to the plate against LHP Matt Wickswat with two down and DH Aaron Baker and CF Miguel Abreu on base. The Keys' catcher cracked a three-run blast to left field to put Frederick in front by four runs. Later in the frame, Schoop blasted a two-run homer. In all, the Keys plated six runs in the fourth.

Offensively, Frederick was not finished after the fourth. The Keys scored a run in the sixth and added five more runs in seventh as they cruised to a 13-4 victory.

Three times this season, the Keys have scored more than 12 runs against the Keys. Additionally, Frederick plated 10 of their 13 runs on Friday night with two outs in the inning and all nine starters registered a hit.

On a night where offense stole the show, Ryohei Tanaka pitched a gem. After surrendered eight runs on 11 hits in his last start, Tanaka was perfect through five innings on Friday night. He finished up his outing after six innings and allowed one run on one hit while striking out four.

The Keys and Dash will play game three of the four-game series on Saturday night in Frederick. LHP Rick Zagone (2-1, 3.14) will take the hill for the Keys while Winston-Salem will counter with RHP Cameron Bayne (11-4, 3.09). First pitch from Harry Grove Stadium is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
