THE HILLCATS: Thursday, the 'Cats beat the Wilmington Blue Rocks 4-1...LHP Dimasther Delgado went five innings, allowing just one run on four hits and won his eighth game of the season...Lynchburg's bullpen followed with four scoreless frames...The 'Cats led the whole way, scoring two in the second inning, going up 2-0 and then padded their lead with two more in the fourth...The Hillcats are currently in third place in the Northern Division at 19-26, 8.0 games back of the Frederick Keys in first place...
VS. WILMINGTON: The Hillcats are 10-7 against the Blue Rocks this season...This is Lynchburg's final series against Wilmington this season...The 'Cats finished are 5-5 against the Blue Rocks at home, and are currently 5-2 while visiting Frawley Stadium...Last season, Lynchburg lost the season series to Wilmington 8-12...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) however, won 11 of their 20 match-ups with the Blue Rocks a season ago...
SIGNS OF LIFE: Lynchburg has won seven of their last nine, and nine of their last 13...They've won their last four series in a row, against the Salem Red Sox, Frederick Keys, Wilmington Blue Rocks, and the Kinston Indians, all 2-1...It's the first time the 'Cats have accomplished such a feat all season...Not since May 23-29 had they even won back-to-back series...With just 24 games left, the Hillcats are four games out of a playoff spot behind the Potomac Nationals, since the first place Keys have already secured their spot by winning the first half...
AUGUST HEAT WAVE: Through eight games this August, the Hillcats are 7-3, hitting .304 as a team, while scoring 61 runs, an average of 6.1 per game...Pitching has been lights out as well, posting a 2.20 ERA over 90.0 innings...The offense has compiled 29 doubles, four triples, and seven home runs, while the pitching has struck out 86 and walked just 28...
THE FAST TRACK: Former 2011 Hillcat Arodys Vizcaino made his MLB debut Wednesday night in Florida for the Braves...He pitched just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, hit a batter, and struck out one before being relieved in the ninth by LHP Jonny Venters...Beginning the season in Lynchburg, Vizcaino posted a 2.45 ERA in nine starts, before getting the call to AA Mississippi May 29...After eight starts, he was moved to the bullpen for three appearances and called up to AAA Gwinnett July 26...He tossed seven innings in six appearances out of the bullpen for Gwinnett, allowing just one run on a solo homer in his debut...At just 20 years old, Vizcaino will be the youngest player on the Atlanta roster...

CATNIPS: INF Joey Terdoslavich hit his 46th double of the season Tuesday night, setting a new Lynchburg record...He is just five behind the all-time Carolina League record...The Hillcats stole a season-high six bases last night against the Blue Rocks...RHP Robert Roth made his Hillcats' debut last night pitching a perfect eighth inning in a 3-3 tie...Roth is one of six American-born Minor League Free Agents signed by the Braves since 2010 on the Hillcats active roster...
TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Tyler Sample was a third round pick by the Royals in the 2008 draft out of JK Mullen Prep in Denver, CO...2010 Midwest League mid-season all-star for Burlington...Won the Midwest League Pitcher of the week on July 19, 2010...Went 6-10 with a 4.69 ERA in 26 starts in 2010...Struck out 115 batters in 121 innings pitched...Has pitched three times against the Hillcats this season...On April 26, pitched two and one-third shutout innings, giving up two hits...Took loss on May 3, pitching five innings and giving up five runs, four earned and striking out six...Gave up two runs on five hits and four walks in five innings in loss on August 7...Currently 6-10 with a 5.63 ERA...
