Frederick Swept In Double-Header

For the fifth time this season, the Frederick Keys were swept in a double-header. The Keys came from five runs behind to tie the first game. The Wilmington Blue Rocks edged out the Keys, however, 6-5. Frederick made six errors in the night cap, as they lost game two 4-2.

LHP Rick Zagone got the start in game one. After cruising through the first two innings, he was touched up for five runs in the third inning on four hits. He left after the third, having allowed the five runs, only three earned, on four hits. He walked one and struck out one.

The Keys started chipping away in the bottom of the third. With two on and one out, SS Pedro Florimon stroked a two-run double to pull Frederick to within three.

Frederick tied the game at five in the fifth. LF Tyler Henson, CF Matt Angle, Florimon and 1B Robbie Widlansky eached single, knocking in three runs.

Wilmington took the lead back in the sixth, however. RF Nick Van Stratten doubled. LF Paulo Orlando sacraficed Van Stratten to third base. C Ryan Eigsti knocked him in with a sac fly, giving the Blue Rocks the 6-5 lead.

RHP Louis Coleman (1-0) got the win after pitching two scoreless innings. RHP Brian Parker (4-1) took the loss, after allowing an earned run i three innings of work. LHP Brandon Sisk picked up his 15th save.

Things got ugly in the night cap. The Keys made a season-high six errors. Wilmington got on the scoreboard in the first. With one man out, 2B Johnny Giavotella reached on an error. 3B Mike Moustakas then grounded into a fielder's choice. 1B Clint Robinson and DH Chase Fontaine hit back-to-back singles, knocking in an unearned run, and making it 1-0.

In the fourth, the Blue Rocks extended their lead. Fontaine hit a line drive that struck RHP Pat Egan. The ball ricocheted away. 2B Ryan Adams fielded the ball and threw wildly to first, allowing Fontaine to reach second. LF Jamar Walton then singled to right. Fontaine held at third base. Walton tried to take second on the throw home. Keys C Caleb Joseph threw wildly to second, allowing Fontaine to score from third. C Matt Morizio knocked in Walton with an RBI-double, making it 3-0.

In the top of the fifth, Giavotella and 3B Mike Moustakas reached on back-to-back E-6's. With Giavotella on third, Robinson grounded into a double play, scoring a run, and making it 4-0.

Frederick got on the scoreboard in the sixth. With one on and one out, 3B Brandon Waring cracked his 23rd homer of the season, to pull the Keys to within two.

It was not to be however. RHP Eduardo Paulino (8-6) got the win, after nearly throwing his second complete game in a row. Paulino allowed two runs in 6.1 innings of work. Egan (1-3) took the loss. He allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits. LHP Carlos Rivas recorded the final two outs to pick up his first save of the season.
