Kinston Indians News Release

Tribe Talk....

Heck of a Trip - Kinston went 5-1 on the roadtrip, taking two of three from Lynchburg and sweeping Salem for the second straight weekend. The K-Tribe took the final seven games of the season series with Salem and took Salem's hold on the final playoff spot in the Carolina League Southern Division. Kinston is now ½ game ahead of Salem and two games ahead of Myrtle Beach for the final playoff spot. The K-Tribe has won 11 of their last 12 games.

August Rush - The K-Tribe is now 12-2 in the month of August. The K-Tribe has posted a 2.17 team ERA in the month of August, the lowest in the Carolina League. Kinston is also second in the CL for the month in batting average (.286) and home runs with ten. Kinston's 12 wins this month is already the most they've had in any month this season. Kinston won eleven games in both April and May. Kinston won just seven games in June and nine games in July.

Lucky Number Six?!? - Kinston's current hot streak can be traced back to their record breaking 12 run sixth inning on August 4th against Lynchburg. The K-Tribe has lost only one game since then and the sixth inning has continued to be a hot one. Since that 12 run sixth, Kinston has scored in the sixth inning in four straight, five of their last six and seven of their last eleven games; with six inning totals of 3,2,4,4,5, 4 and 3...Throwing in the big 12 run inning, Kinston has scored 41 total runs in the sixth inning alone over their last twelve games. Kinston has now scored 93 total runs in the sixth inning this season, the most they have scored in any inning this season.

Big Inning Bombers - In the last twelve games, Kinston has put together a bunch of big innings. The K-Tribe has 12 innings of three or more runs and seven inning of four or more runs during the twelve game stretch.

Fedroff on Fire - Tim Fedroff has a consecutive on-base streak of 35 games, the longest streak this season in the Carolina League. Fedroff is hitting .341 during the streak which started on June 21st. The streak is the longest in the Carolina League since Jordan Parraz reached base in 38 straight games for Salem last season. The streak is the longest by a K-Triber since Stephen Head reached base safely in 37 straight games in 2006. Fedroff also has put together a 16 game hit streak, now the fourth longest in the CL this season. Fedroff is hitting .455 over that streak, which started on July 27th. Although Tim Fedroff was never put on the DL, the UNC Alum missed a week and a half due to a nagging hamstring injury in the middle of July. Since coming back on July 21st Fedroff has been on fire. Fedroff has hit safely in all but two of his 20 games since coming back. The K-Tribe outfielder also boasts twelve multi-hit games including five two-hit games in a row. Fedroff has brought his average up from .252 to .297 (now the third best in the CL), he also boasts a .390 obp, the third best in the Carolina League.

Start Me Up - The K-Tribe now has three starters in the top five in the Carolina League in ERA. Departed starter Eric Berger leads the league with a 2.45 mark, Paolo Espino is second with a 2.71 ERA and Russell Young is fifth at 3.33. The starters have been great for the last month, having allowed just 40 ER in 167.1 innings over the last 32 games, an ERA of 2.17.
