Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced two skaters have been promoted to the American Hockey League (AHL). Forward Thomas Frazee has been loaned to the Charlotte Checkers and defenseman Sean Escobedo has been loaned to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.
It's the first time in Frazee's two-year professional career that he has been called up to the AHL. In addition, Escobedo's promotion is his second this season and the third of his pro career. He was loaned to AHL Hartford on February 22nd and debuted with the Wolf Pack on February 27th at Manchester.
Frazee, 25, was traded to Greenville from Evansville on March 9th and notched nine points (3g, 6a) in just 13 games with the Road Warriors. Overall, he amassed 40 points (18g, 22a) and 44 penalty minutes in 67 games this season between Greenville, Evansville and Fort Wayne. Frazee finished the season fifth on the Road Warriors in scoring (40 points), tied for third in goals (18) and tied for second in power-play goals (5).
A native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Frazee spent his rookie season with the Quad City Mallards (Central Hockey League) in 2012-13, where he registered 47 points (24g, 23a), 42 penalty minutes and a +8 rating in 60 regular-season contests. He added 11 points (5g, 6a) in 13 playoff games and helped the Mallards reach the President's Cup semifinals in 2013.
The 6'3, 210-pound center made his professional debut with Bakersfield during the 2011-12 campaign and produced four points (1g, 3a) in 13 games. He bookended that stint with two seasons of college hockey at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he earned 31 points (9g, 22a) in 28 appearances.
Prior to turning pro, Frazee played six seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2005-2011. Frazee spent time with the Portland Winter Hawks, Medicine Hat Tigers, Moose Jaw Warriors, Regina Pats and Kamloops Blazers.
Escobedo, 24, recorded 19 points (3g, 16a) and 37 penalty minutes in his first season with the Road Warriors (61 games). He also led Greenville defensemen with a +8 rating.
A native of Bayside, New York, Escobedo spent the majority of his rookie campaign last season with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder, where he recorded 15 points (6g, 9a), 57 penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 50 games. He also made his AHL debut with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on November 16th, 2013 and faced Hartford in a 4-1 setback.
Prior to turning pro, the 6'1, 205-pound defenseman played four seasons at Boston University from 2009-2013. He registered 33 points (6g, 27a) and 208 penalty minutes in 145 career games.
