Wheeling's Palazzese Named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Franky Palazzese of the Wheeling Nailers is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for April.

Palazzese went 3-1-0 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage in April, helping the Nailers claim the final playoff spot in the North Division.

The 21-year-old won his final three starts of the month, allowing five goals over that span. He made a season-high 46 saves in a 2-1 win at Reading on April 8 and turned aside 25 of 28 shots in a 5-3 win at Elmira on April 11 to clinch a playoff berth.

Under contract to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, Palazzese appeared in 41 games with the Nailers this season going 20-19-1 with one shutout, a 2.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .911.

Prior to turning pro, Palazzese played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Kingston, Kitchener and Sudbury appearing in 175 career games and posting an overall record of 71-69-26 with seven shutouts, a 3.12 goals-against average and a save percentage of .914.

Runners Up: Roman Will, Fort Wayne (4-1-0, 1.75 GAA, .940 save pct.) and Jussi Olkinuora, Ontario (4-0-1, 2.16 GAA, .931 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Mike Lee (Gwinnett), Olivier Roy (Idaho), Joel Martin (Kalamazoo), Garret Sparks (Orlando), Parker Milner (Quad City) and Igor Bobkov (Utah).
