(Nashua, NH, June 27, 2006) Nashua Pride officials announced today that the Thursday, June 29th game will be Franklin Pierce Night at the Ballpark in honor of Bryan Duplissie being named the Northeast-10 Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
All students and staff with Franklin Pierce ID cards will receive the special rate of $5.00 for all tickets purchased for Thursday night's game versus the Worcester Tornadoes starting at 7:05 p.m.
In 2006, Duplissie set a Franklin Pierce record with 62 RBI and was third on the team with a .344 batting average to go with 44 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples and 13 home runs. He also boasted a .612 slugging and .400 on-base percentages, while stealing nine bases and committing just three errors at first base (.994 fielding percentage). Duplissie also made 12 starts on the mound and compiled a 7-1 record with a 2.97 ERA, 45 strikeouts and 24 walks over 66.2 innings of work, holding opposing batters to a .244 batting average.
The East Swanzey, NH native recently graduated with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average while majoring in business management with a minor in economics. This spring, he was also named to the ESPN The Magazine District I Academic All-America first team, while also collecting NE-10 All-Academic first team and Commissioner's Honor Roll Silver Scholar status.
Franklin Pierce is a four-year, coeducational, nonsectarian college located in the State of New Hampshire. The main campus in Rindge, New Hampshire is situated on over 1,000 wooded acres on the shore of Pearly Pond near the base of Mount Monadnock. The College also operates six Graduate & Professional Studies centers in Concord, Keene, Lebanon, Manchester and Portsmouth.
The Nashua Pride, entering their first year of play in the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Historic Holman Stadium. Prior to joining the Can-Am League, the Pride played for eight seasons in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, winning the 2000 Atlantic League championship.
