July 4, 2009 - AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas got an early lead but couldn't't score again, only getting six hits in the game as the Coastal Bend Thunder defeated the Dillas 8-1 on Saturday night in front of 6787 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Newly acquired Thunder starter Frank O. James (1-0) got his first win of the season in his first start, going an out short of six innings, allowing only five hits and the sole Amarillo run. Dillas starter Richard Jessup (2-1) got his first loss of his career as he went seven innings and gave up four earned runs.

Amarillo got on the board first for the first time in the series in the first inning. Keanon Simon lead off with a hit-by-pitch, new Dilla Raphael Ozuna singled, as did Carlos Figueroa. Simon would score on a Terrance McClain ground out for a 1-0 Amarillo lead.

Coastal Bend would move ahead in the fourth as Amadeo Zazueta hit a two-run double and Bryan Vickers followed with another RBI double to score Zazueta for a 3-1 Thunder advantage.

The score would stay that way until the sixth inning as Leivi Ventura doubled and scored on a Vickers single to move up by three. They would add another run in a three-error inning by the Dillas in the seventh and added three more in the eighth, two via another error to give Coastal Bend the 8-1 advantage, which would be how the game ended.

With the loss, the Dillas fall to 13-10, while the Thunder improve to 12-11. Saturday, Amarillo will host Coastal Bend for the final game of a four-game series at 6:05pm.
