Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced Friday the nomination of Francine Laplante as the Club's representative for the MLS Works Community MVP Program.
An experienced community worker in the Greater Montreal area, Ms. Laplante has been deeply involved in the sector for over 20 years.
Most notably, she spearheads the Marraine étoilée project, whose mission is to help troubled and underprivileged youth feel cared for and supported in their respective journeys through the foster care system. This project was brought to life by the Néz pour vivre foundation, a charitable organization founded by Ms. Laplante, which helps young adults with cancer diagnoses to access direct help to support them in their fight. Néz pour vivre is the only resource of its kind in Quebec.
"The honour of being nominated for this program is huge," said Ms. Laplante. "At its core, what we're doing is about making a real difference on the ground, and especially since many of the youth I work with are big CF Montréal and soccer fans."
Each season, Major League Soccer and Wells Fargo recognize fans from all across MLS who are involved in their communities and demonstrate dedication and generosity by creating a positive impact. CF Montréal is proud to join forces with MLS once again to continue highlighting individuals like Ms. Laplante who go above and beyond in these challenging times to serve our communities in incredible ways.
As a finalist, Ms. Laplante will receive local and national recognition for her community projects, as well as $2,500 to donate to the charity of her choice, a customized adidas MLS jersey and an official adidas NATIVO 21 MLS match ball.
