Racing Louisville FC News Release
Racing Louisville FC stars Emily Fox and Jaelin Howell made it 3-for-3 in terms of call ups this year to U.S. Women's National Team camps with both named Tuesday to coach Vlatko Andonovski's 23-player roster for April friendlies.
As the USWNT inches toward 2023 World Cup qualifying later this year, the stars and stripes are scheduled to host Uzbekistan for a pair of friendlies during the upcoming FIFA window on April 9 at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio (5:30 p.m. ET on FOX) and April 12 at Subaru Park in Chester, Penn. (7 p.m. ET on ESPN2).
Fox and Howell were both previously called up for the USWNT's January training camp and ensuing SheBelieves Cup, during which they appeared against Iceland in the Americans' victorious final.
Since then, the defender Fox and midfielder Howell returned to Racing camp before helping the club open the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup. Fox, on 11 international caps, is Racing's top outside back. Howell, who has four senior USWNT appearances, has anchored the midfield in both games thus far.
Racing continues Challenge Cup group stage play on Wednesday night at the Chicago Red Stars and remains on the road Saturday to face the KC Current. From there, the club will get a weekend off for the international break as Fox and Howell head off to play in red, white and blue.
"We have four games left before World Cup and Olympic qualifying, and it's up to the players and staff to maximize every minute we get together on the field and in the meeting room," Andonovski said. "We have quite a few injuries in our player pool that we are dealing with, but that also means more opportunities for other players and the chance to continue deepen our roster as we continue to work to find the best combination of players to take to Mexico in July."
