Fox Breaks Single-Season Home Run Record

Harlingen, TX - First half champion Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings slugger Ryan Fox hit his 22nd home run to break the single-season United League record of 21 tonight at Harlingen Field.

The blast came in the bottom of the 8th inning of off Edinburg Coyotes right-handed reliever Adam Clay on an 0-2 pitch. The solo-shot went over the left-center field wall.

The home run gave the WhiteWings a 4-2 lead.

Antoin Gray (WhiteWings) and Jason Crosland (San Angelo Colts) each hit 21 home runs to set the original mark last year.

Gray, a second baseman, is currently playing for Winnipeg (Northern League) and batting .286 with 11 home runs and 42 RBI in 73 games.

Crosland, a corner infielder, is back with the Colts this season and batting .291 with 16 home runs (fourth in the league) and 67 RBI in 80 games.

The home run also extends Fox's United League lead, two more than Edinburg's Nelson Teilon.
