
Fourteen Former Admirals Players Hoist Stanley Cup

NORFOLK, Va. - Fourteen former Admirals players and several former Admirals staff members lifted the Stanley Cup tonight as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime in Game Six at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center. The Blackhawks claimed a four-games-to-two series victory.
The following 14 former Admirals were on Chicago's active roster during the playoffs (Admirals games played and seasons are listed in parentheses):
Bryan Bickell (48 GP, 2006-07), Dave Bolland (65 GP, 2006-07), Troy Brouwer (66 GP, 2006-07), Adam Burish (64 GP, 2006-07), Dustin Byfuglien (116 GP, 2005-06 - 2006-07), Corey Crawford (108 GP, 2005-06 - 2006-07), Jake Dowell (9 GP, 2006-07), Colin Fraser (145 GP, 2004-05 - 2006-07), Jordan Hendry (93 GP, 2005-06 - 2006-07), Duncan Keith (154 GP, 2003-04 - 2004-05), Danny Richmond (88 GP, 2005-06 - 2006-07), Brent Seabrook (3 GP, 2004-05), Jack Skille (9 GP, 2006-07), Kris Versteeg (27 GP, 2006-07).
Blackhawks Assistant Coach Mike Haviland was the head coach of the Admirals from 2005-06 to 2006-07, winning the Louis A.R. Pieri Award as AHL Coach of the Year in 2006-07.
Also winning the Stanley Cup were Admirals Hall of Famers Al MacIsaac (Inaugural Class of 2008) and Mark Bernard (Class of 2009). MacIsaac, who spent 16 years with the Admirals as a player, assistant coach, assistant general manager and general manager from 1991-92 to 2006-07, is the Blackhawks' Senior Director of Hockey Administration and Assistant to the President. Bernard, who played with the Admirals from 1990-91 to 1992-93 and 1995-96 before serving as Executive Vice President and Assistant General Manager from 2006-07 to 2007-08, is the Blackhawks' General Manager of Minor League Affiliations.
Most of the above players and staff will have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup. Any player who has appeared in at least 41 regular season games or one game in the Stanley Cup Final with the championship team will automatically have their name engraved on the Stanley Cup. Players that do not meet those criteria may have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup only if the NHL approves a special request made by the championship team.
Prior to tonight, seven former Admirals had their names engraved on the Stanley Cup: Anton Babchuk (2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes), Aaron Downey (2007-08 Detroit Red Wings), Kent Huskins (2006-07 Anaheim Ducks), Andrew Hutchinson (2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes), Travis Moen (2006-07 Anaheim Ducks), Shawn Thornton (2006-07 Anaheim Ducks) and Valeri Zelepukin (1994-95 New Jersey Devils).
