Four Snakes Receive SPHL Honors

The Southern Professional Hockey League announced its regular season awards today. Two forwards, a defenseman and a goalie each received honors for the Snakes.

Snakes leading scorer Tim Green and goaltender Ian Vigier each received second-team honors. During the 2008-09 regular season, Green collected 35 goals and 40 assists in 60 games to finish fifth in the league in points scored with 75. Vigier ranked fourth among league goaltenders with a 2.91 save percentage. He finished with a 19-9-5 regular season record, and posted an impressive 12-1-3 record over the final 16 games to close out the season.

Named to the SPHL rookie team were forward Sam Bowles and defenseman Kyle Lundale. Bowles and Lundale each joined the Snakes in December and had immediate impacts. Lundale finished as the top-ranked defenseman in +/- rating with +18. He ranked 12th among all defensemen in points scored with 27. Bowles has been one of the Snakes' top offensive weapons since his arrival. In 44 games, the Maryland native posted 53 points, and finished third on the team in scoring.

The Snakes host Fayetteville in the first round of the SPHL playoffs. Games one and two of the best-of-five series are scheduled for Thursday, March 26 and Saturday, March 28 at the Snake Pit. For more information, contact 706 571 0086.
