Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Salt Lake City, UT - Things appeared to be promising for the Albuquerque Isotopes through a sizeable portion of Wednesday's contest. Right-handed pitcher Noah Davis turned in four scoreless innings of two-hit ball in a Major League rehabilitation start, and the visitors had a 1-0 advantage thanks to a solo homer by Aaron Schunk.
However, the Salt Lake Bees tied the game with a single tally in the sixth inning, then put up a four-spot in the seventh en route to a 6-1 victory. Albuquerque has dropped a season-worst tying four consecutive games.
Topes Scope: - Albuquerque finished May with exactly 200 runs scored, their second-most in a month in team history (206 in August 2011). Additionally, their .320 team batting average this month was also second-highest all time, as they batted .322 in May 2010.
- On the pitching side, the staff compiled an 8.16 ERA in 26 contests in May, their worst in a single month in team history by almost a full run (7.32 in May 2022). Their 216 runs relented this month were second-most all time (221 in August 2010).
- Davis pitched for the first time since April 29 vs. Arizona and allowed just three baserunners in four frames (two infield singles, walk) while striking out six. It marked his most strikeouts since Sept. 9, 2022 vs. Somerset (seven) and tied for the second-most by an Albuquerque pitcher this season.
- Schunk was 3-for-4 with a double and homer, continuing a torrid stretch in which he is slashing .385/.417/.731 with 16 extra-base hits (10 doubles, a triple, five homers) in his last 21 contests. He has at least one extra-base knock in five consecutive games, a season-high by an Isotopes player. Additionally, Schunk has back-to-back three-hit ballgames for the second time in his professional career (May 3-4 vs. SUG).
- Yonathan Daza recorded his 10th multi-hit game at Triple-A this season, and sixth in his last seven contests. Daza is 14-for-34 in the last seven games.
- Daniel Cope's run of three consecutive two-hit games came to an end with an 0-for-4 performance.
- Albuquerque was held to one run for the third time this season and first since April 23 vs. Oklahoma City. It marked their second-lowest total as they were blanked on May 11 at Las Vegas.
- The Isotopes pitching staff was able to stop their string of allowing double-digit runs in the prior three ballgames.
- This is the third different four-game losing streak for the Isotopes in 2023. It also took place April 22-26 and again from April 28-May 2.
- Jo Adell has homered in all seven games he has played against Albuquerque this season, with eight total long balls to account for his production.
- Michael Stefanic extended his on-base streak to 55 consecutive games with an eighth-inning single for the Bees. The stretch dates back to Sept. 2, 2022.
On Deck: The Isotopes will send Luis Cessa to the mound in the hopes of breaking a four-game losing streak Thursday night. Right-hander Mason Erla is slated to start for Salt Lake. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
