INDIANAPOLIS - Ryan LaMarre's two-run single capped a four-run second inning as the Louisville Bats defeated the Indianapolis Indians 6-2 on Thursday afternoon at Victory Field.
LaMarre finished a pair of hits and was supported by a 3-for-4 effort from Steve Selsky and two base knocks from Hernan Ichibarren. The trio paced Louisville's assault at the plate which outhit the Tribe 11-4.
Indians starter Nick Kingham (1-2) was tagged for nine of those hits and five runs over five innings of work. The right-hander also struck out seven in his loss to move into second place in the International League with 29 strikeouts on the season.
Tony Sanchez coaxed a bases-loaded walk for the Tribe's lone RBI and Steve Lombardozzi singled and scored to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the third.
The Indians' bullpen combined to retire 14 consecutive batters from the sixth to ninth inning before allowing an insurance tally in the final frame.
