Frisco Fighters News Release

FRISCO, Texas - Four Frisco Fighters have been named to the 2021 All-IFL teams, the IFL announced on Friday. Offensive lineman Maea Teuhema and defensive lineman Charles Williams both received first-team honors while running back DeMarcus Felton and defensive lineman Malcolm Goines were named to the second team.

The awards were the first All-IFL honors for each player. Only two teams had more players named to the All-IFL teams.

"I'm very happy for these guys," said Fighters head coach Clint Dolezel. "All four had outstanding seasons for us and were integral in the success of our team."

The Fighters had one of the best seasons in the IFL in 2021, despite being a first-year franchise. Frisco finished 10-3 in the regular season, good for the league's third-best overall record. The team boasted a strong run game, with Teuhema anchoring the Fighters' offensive line and Felton finishing second in the league in rushing yards among running backs.

Defensively the Fighters were even more dominant, especially along the line of scrimmage. Williams, who led the league in sacks and tackles for loss, paired with Goines to form one of the most formidable defensive fronts in the IFL. Frisco finished the regular season with the league's best overall defense and best rush defensive, while also collecting the most sacks as a team.

The Fighters remain in contention for the United Bowl championship. The team travels to Massachusetts on Saturday, September 4, to take on the Mass Pirates in a semifinal game. The winner of that contest will advance to the United Bowl the following weekend.

FIRST TEAM

OL Maea Teuhema

Rookie offensive lineman Maea Teuhema has been an anchor on the line for the Fighters in 2021. He proved his durability by starting all 13 regular season games the Fighters played and helped pave the way for Frisco's run game, which finished fourth in the league in rushing yards per game (79.9) and fifth in the league in rushing attempts (261) and rushing touchdowns (37).

DL Charles Williams

Charles Williams proved to be one of the league's most dominant pass rushers, finishing the regular season leading the IFL in both sacks (11) and tackles for loss (17 for 89 yards). He averaged 1.42 tackles for loss per game (1st) and nearly averaged a sack per game (0.92). Frisco's defensive line finished with the most sacks as a team (25), and Williams collected nearly half of those. He also finished the regular season with 29 solo tackles, 48 total tackles, five pass breakups, and three blocked kicks.

SECOND TEAM

RB DeMarcus Felton

DeMarcus Felton put together an electrifying season in his rookie year in the IFL, earning second-team All-IFL honors. Felton was an integral part of the Fighters offense and ranked second in the IFL in rushing among running backs and third in the league in rushing touchdowns. Felton carried 128 times in his rookie season for 507 yards (4th overall in the IFL) for an average of 39.0 yards per game (5th) with 20 rushing touchdowns.

DL Malcolm Goines Sr.

Veteran lineman Malcolm Goines joined Williams to form a terrific tandem on the defensive front. In just 11 games he ended his 2021 campaign with the fifth-most sacks in the IFL (5.0), while also collecting 23 total tackles and 7.0 tackles for loss (15th). Goines also blocked a field goal in the final seconds of the Fighters' game against the Iowa Barnstormers to seal a win in Week 12 for the Fighters.
