Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Canadian Football League unveiled the 2010 CFL All-Stars today and four members of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were named to the team.
Running back Fred Reid, receiver Terrence Edwards, defensive tackle Doug Brown and defensive end Phillip Hunt were selected by a combination of fan balloting, CFL head coaches and a total of 53 members of the Football Reporters of Canada.
Reid earned his first league all-star selection after leading the league in rushing for the first time in his career. He finished with 1,396 yards and six touchdowns and also hauled in 35 passes for 255 yards - a career best. Reid was second in the league in yards from scrimmage with 1,651.
Edwards enjoyed his best year in the CFL finishing second in the league in receiving with a career-best 1,372 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was Winnipeg's most consistent receiver and started all 18 games for the Blue Bombers. This is his second league all-star selection after last being named to the team in 2007.
Brown once again showed that age isn't a factor as he anchored the Bombers' defensive line and finished the year with five sacks, 49 tackles and one fumble recovery. The 36-year old played in all 18 games and was constantly double teamed by opposing offensive lines, allowing his teammates to break free on one-and-one rushes. This is his fifth straight league all-star selection and the seventh time he's been named to the team in his ten-year career.
Hunt had a breakout season for the Blue Bombers starting all 18 games and finishing the year with a league-leading 16 sacks and 53 tackles - tied for the most by a defensive lineman. The second-year Bomber tied a CFL record when he recorded at least one sack in ten straight games. This is the 24-year old's first league all-star selection.
