Foster and Hake share player of the year honors

With nearly 1,000 votes cast online and in person, our Player of the Year Voting ended in a dead heat between LF Quincy Foster and 2B Travis Hake. Foster and Hake edged out fellow nominees Ryan Minor, Jeremy Todd and Domingo Acosta.

Quincy Foster has been a fan-favorite all season long, with his warm demeanor, effervescent personality and enthusiastic style of play. The speedy outfielder led the Barnstormers and finished fourth in the Atlantic League with a .320 batting average. He also led the team and finished second in the league with 165 hits, seven triples and 55 stolen bases. His 11 homers easily surpassed a career high. Foster was originally selected by the Florida Marlins in 1995 and played with the Marlins and Expos organization until 2004. He has been an All-Star and among the leaders in average and stolen bases in both of his Atlantic League seasons.

Travis Hake made a triumphant return to professional baseball, after being out of the game since being released by the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2001. A native of York, PA who currently resides in Brogue, Hake played in more games then any other Barnstormer (131 of 140). He also led the team with 91 runs and 32 doubles. His .295 average was third best on the team and his 155 hits trailed only Foster and were third most in the league. Hake also had 42 stolen bases, which were fifth most in the league and again trail only Foster for the team lead.
