Forward Tyrell Goulbourne Assigned to Reading
November 17, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that forward Tyrell Goulbourne has been assigned by the Flyers from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League to Reading. In separate transactions, the Royals also (i) placed defenseman Jesper Pettersson on the 21-Day Injured Reserve retroactive to November 3; and (ii) placed forward Matt Robertson on the team's ECHL Reserve List.
Goulbourne (6'0/204) (22), a second year pro from Edmonton, Alberta, has registered nine penalty minutes in six games with the Phantoms this year. Last season, he scored seven goals and assisted on ten others (seventeen points) in seventy-three games with Lehigh Valley. His seventy-five penalty minutes that season placed him second the team. Prior to turning pro, Goulbourne, who was a third round pick for the Flyers in 2013, played 275 regular season games of major junior with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, registering 125 points (60g-65a) and 461 penalty minutes. He twice led Kelowna in PIMs, and in his final year with the team (2014-15), was third on the Rockets with twenty-two goals and seventy-six penalty minutes. That season, Kelowna captured the Ed Chynoweth Cup as the WHL Champions and advanced to the Memorial Cup Finals where they were knocked off by the Oshawa Generals.
