Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Josh Birkholz for the 2013-14 season.

Birkholz, a Maple Grove, Minnesota native was one of the Cyclones' top rookies a year ago; the 22-year-old finished fifth among first-year Cincinnati players with 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists) in 47 regular season games. In the postseason, the six-foot-one-inch forward contributed two goals and an assist in nine contests. A third round selection of the Florida Panthers in 2009, Birkholz also logged four games in the American Hockey League with San Antonio. Prior to going pro, he enjoyed a three-year WHL career along with one season of college hockey - amassing 128 points (73 goals, 55 assists) in 229 amateur games.

"Josh played here last year and did very well, which will help his confidence coming into year two," said Cyclones Head Coach Ben Simon. "He is a very fast skater who can generate offense. I'm looking forward to seeing him continue the consistency he had during his rookie season."
