Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they have signed Marc Cheverie for the 2013-14 season. The six-foot-two, 185-pound goaltender spent three seasons at the University of Denver, where he posted a total record of 48-18-8, a cumulative GAA of 2.20 and a .926 save percentage. Prior to joining the Pioneers, Cheverie was drafted in the seventh round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers.
"I'm very excited to return Colorado and to re-join several teammates that I have played with in the past," said Cheverie. "I'm really looking forward to joining an organization that I have heard absolutely nothing but good things about and I can't wait to try to accomplish the ultimate goal of winning a championship."
The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native spent parts of 3 seasons in the AHL with Rochester, Portland and most recently with Binghamton, where he registered a 2.80 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 13 games with the Senators. In addition to his 37 games in the AHL, Cheverie has also played in 74 ECHL contests, including 22 games last season with the Elmira Jackals, where he sported a 2.60 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
"We are very excited to sign a goaltender of Marc's caliber," said Eagles goaltending coach Ryan Bach. "Goaltending is such a big part of a team's success and that is why Coach Stewart has put a lot of emphasis this summer on finding an excellent 1-2 tandem."
Cheverie joins Adam Brown as the second goaltender to officially sign with the Eagles for the upcoming season.
