Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Tuesday that center Matt Tassone has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season.

Tassone ("Ta-SO-knee"), 23, made his ECHL debut in 2010-11 with the Idaho Steelheads, recording seven goals and three assists. In 2011-12, the 6-foot, 201-pound center tallied five goals and eight assists with the Ontario Reign, and then opened 2012-13 with the Central Hockey League's Wichita Thunder and Arizona Sundogs. With a combined six goals and two assists in 14 CHL games, Tassone was loaned to the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters, recording one goal, 26 penalty minutes, and a plus/minus of zero in 13 games. The St. Albert, Alberta native finished the year with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals, picking up six more regular-season points (4 goals, 2 assists), and a goal and two assists in the playoffs.

"Matt is a big, strong forward who can put the puck in the net," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. "He's a guy who will help us on the power play, an area we must be much better in this season. He plays very hard and is a great person to have in the locker room."

Prior to turning pro, Tassone spent four years (2006-10) with the Western Hockey League's Swift Current Broncos. He donned the alternate captain "A" his final year after amassing 73 goals and 46 assists in 187 games.

The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies.
