Fort Wayne Blanks Mallards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Nick Boucher made 38 saves and Brett Smith scored two goals and assisted on another as the host Fort Wayne Komets blanked the Quad City Mallards 4-0 Saturday night.

The Komets took a 1-0 lead when Smith buried Bobby Chaumont's centering pass from the doorstep at 16:52 of the first period. Boucher's efforts enabled the Komets to emerge from the opening twenty minutes with a one-goal edge despite being outshot 16-6 in the first.

Jean-Michel Rizk buried a rebound to stretch the Fort Wayne advantage to 2-0 at 4:39 of the second period.

Smith made it 3-0 at 4:32 of the third period with a close range power play goal.

Artem Podshendyalov capped off the Komet victory with a blast from the left wing circle at 11:27 of the third.

The Mallards will visit the Dayton Gems Wednesday night. The Mallards next play at home next Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Komets. Fans attending that contest will have the chance to take advantage of Black Friday merchandise specials at the Mallards Pro Shop in the i wireless Center.

The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $12 in the upper level, $17 in the lower level and $25 for the first row along the glass for adults. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for $5 off adult rates. In addition, tickets are available to military personnel for $2 off the regular adult rate.
