Bucks Stung Again by Bees

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, drop another one to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 5-2.

The Laredo Bucks visited the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for the second straight night Saturday night. The Bucks would only have 16 players on the bench for the rematch with the Bees. The Bees notched the first goal of the evening when Aaron Lee scored at 8:34 in the first. The teams battled most of the period. The Bucks had 10 shots on goal, while the Bees had 13, when the period came to a close.

The Bucks penalty kill went straight to work to start the second period, successfully killing the powerplay for the Bees. Justin Styffe had been in the box for cross checking. Brandon Campos would give the Bees a 2-0 lead at 4:33. The Bucks would get on the board when Jason Reese put one above the glove of the Killer Bee goaltender at 11:05. Matt Boyd and Tyler Stitt would receive assists on the goal. At 13:10 in the second, Aaron Lee would poke the puck into the net, giving the Bees a 3-1 lead. Torrie Jung made several outstanding saves during a swarm of Killer Bee shots during the penalty kill at 15:12, keeping the Bucks in the game. However, the Bees were able to put in a rebound at 18:56 making the score 4-1.

The Bucks would go on the powerplay 33 seconds into the third period. As the penalty expired, Ryan Sparling was able to light the lamp. Adam Rivet and Erik Boisvert assisted on the goal, making it a 2 goal game. Jason Reese was called for interference at 4:20 and AJ Mikkelsen was able to score on the Bees powerplay at 5:49, making the core 5-2. The Bees would outshoot the Bucks 36 to 28 in the game.

The Laredo Bucks will continue to be on the road for their next three games. The Bucks return home to the LEA on Saturday, November 26th when they will face the Texas Brahmas. All tickets for the November 26th game are ONLY $10!! Call 718-BUCK (2825) to get your tickets!
