
Former Yard Dawgz kicker honored by AFL

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz are proud to announce that Peter Martinez has been named to the Arena Football League All- Rookie Team. Martinez played for the Yard Dawgz during the 2004 season and has spent the 2005 season with the Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League. Martinez becomes the first former Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz player to be honored with an AFL award.
Martinez finished the 2005 season ranked fifth in the AFL in scoring by a kicker with 139 points. He made the second most field goals in the AFL this season with 18, including a 54-yarder against New Orleans. On field goals under 50 yards this season, Martinez was 17- of-29 (58.6%) and was third among kickers in touchdown-saving special teams tackles with 10.5.
Martinez was named All-af2 last season as he led the af2 in scoring by a kicker with 126 points, extra points made with 107 and he finished second in extra points attempted with 122 and extra point percentage with 87.7%.
Martinez still holds Yard Dawgz team records in most field goals made with six and scoring by a kicker with 126 points.
