Former Teammates Sign ECHL Contracts

Ralston, NE - A pair of former Omaha Lancers teammates in the 2011-2012 season have signed professional contracts in the ECHL after completing their four-year careers in college. Kevin Schulze has inked a deal with the Wheeling Nailers while Michael Ferrantino signed with the Toledo Walleye.

Ferrantino completed his four years with Michigan State University and served as the team captain his final two seasons. While with the Spartans, Ferrantino accumulated 34 goals, 45 assists, and 79 points in 148 games. After playing in four games with Omaha in the 2010-2011 season, the Plymouth, Michigan native picked up 22 points in 58 regular season games with the Lancers, along with an assist in four playoff games. The Walleye are based in Toledo, Ohio and are the affiliate with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and NHL's Detroit Red Wings.

Former University of Wisconsin defenseman, Kevin Schulze, recently completed his career with the Badgers, finishing with 10 goals, 36 assists and 46 points in 148 total games played. In one season with the Omaha Lancers, Schulze recorded 22 points in 50 games. Prior to joining the Lancers, the Minnesota native saw eight games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Schulze joins the Nailers in West Virginia, an affiliate of the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, for the remainder of the regular season.

The Lancers are on the road for a 3-game weekend. Friday and Saturday, Omaha is in Youngstown. On Sunday, the Lancers stop for a game in Chicago against the Steel.
