CEDAR RAPIDS - Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Scott Perunovich made the final United States National Junior team roster which will participate in the 2018 World Junior Championships. The 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships will take place December 26, 2017 through January 5, 2018 in Buffalo, New York.

Perunovich, from Hibbing, MN played in 56 games for the RoughRiders during the 2016-2017 season, scoring six goals and adding 15 assists. He is in his 1st year at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and has scored four goals and 12 assists through 19 games this season with the Bulldogs.

"The entire RoughRiders organization is thrilled for Scotty!" said RoughRiders Head Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "He has worked extremely hard, is playing very well for the MDU Bulldogs and has earned a spot on the USA World Junior team! We wish Team USA and Scotty all the best in Buffalo."

The United States team won the event in 2017, defeating Canada 5-4 in a shootout.
