Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, are pleased to announce that former goaltender Josh Tordjman made his National Hockey League debut and first NHL start with the Phoenix Coyotes Sunday in a 3-2 loss at the New York Islanders.
Tordjman stopped 23 of 26 shots in the defeat. He is the second former RoadRunners' player this season and the third in four years to advance to the NHL joining centers Cam Paddock and Daniel Winnik. Tordjman is also the 399th ECHL player to play in the NHL and the second this week after former Utah Grizzlies forward Joel Rechlicz made his NHL debut Thursday with the Islanders.
Tordjman, 23, went 4-4-0 in nine appearances in 2006-07 with the RoadRunners and posted a 3.12 goals against average with a .900% save percentage. The Montreal, Quebec native signed a free agent contract with the Coyotes on July 2, 2006 and was assigned to the RoadRunners prior to the start of the season before being re-assigned to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League on Nov. 14, 2006 for the remainder of the year.
Tordjman has recorded a record of 21-21-2 with a 2.68 goals against average, a .909% save percentage, and four shutouts in 46 games this season with San Antonio. He was named the AHL Goaltender of the Month for January after going 9-4-0 with one shutout in 13 games with a 2.01 goals against average and a .933% save percentage.
Phoenix returns to US Airways Center at 5:05 p.m. tonight when they welcome the Utah Grizzlies.
