Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Former Phantom forward Nick Czinder will compete with the Columbus Blue Jackets Rookie Camp at the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, MI. The tournament will be played from September 10th thru the 15th and there will be eight other NHL clubs present at the tournament.

The Blue Jackets rookies will hit the ice against the New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, and the Carolina Hurricanes. The other NHL teams that will be represented are the Atlanta Thrashers, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, and the St. Louis Blues.

For Czinder his big, 6 foot 5, 215 pound, pro style frame will be a plus at this camp, says Director of Player Personnel, Jason Koehler.

"Nick did very well for us last year," said Koehler. "At times he was able to show that he was a man amongst boys, showing flashes of that pro style offense in only his first year on the USHL level."

This accomplishment is not only a proud moment for Czinder, but it is also a proud moment for the young Phantoms organization.

"The USHL is a unique level," said Head Coach Curtis Carr. "The team has to be able to win games, be a positive presence in the community, and be able to develop players to be ready for the next level. This shows that we can help these players make that jump, it proves to the players, that if they do what we ask them to do they can be successful on this level and the next."

Czinder will be playing for the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League during the 2010-2011 season. For more information on the Blue Jackets Rookie Camp and the Traverse City Tournament, visit, www. http://bluejackets.nhl.com/index.html.
