Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that the club's current Chief Officer of Operations, Tim Taylor, will take over the duties as team president.

Taylor, a 38-year-old Muskegon native, will retain his COO title.

"I have utmost confidence in Tim Taylor's abilities," Lumberjacks owner Josh Mervis said. "I feel we have an exceptional leadership team and staff in place."

Taylor was Vice President of Operations for the Muskegon Fury of the United States Hockey League from 2001-05. During his tenure, the team won three Colonial Cup Championships (2002, 2004 and 2005). In 2004, he won the Muskegon Jaycee's Young Male Professional of the Year award.

Following his first stint in Muskegon, Taylor spent three seasons as a member of the front office with the Quad City Mallards in Moline, Ill. He was the United Hockey League club's Senior Vice President for the 2005-06 season before serving as President the next two seasons.

In the summer of 2007, Taylor organized the acquisition of an American Hockey League Franchise by QC Sports Ventures and then oversaw the transition from the UHL to the American Hockey League. The team became the primary AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, and became known as the Quad City Flames. Taylor served as the team's President.

Taylor, who returned to Muskegon in 2008, won the International Hockey League's General Manager of the Year award in 2009.

"I came back to help solidify the tradition of hockey in Muskegon," Taylor said. "To be President of a team in my home town is an honor."

Taylor graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1990 and studied business management at the University of Charleston and professional golf management at Ferris State University. He and his wife Cindy have three children, Nathan (9), Nicholas (6) and Samantha (3), and reside in Norton Shores.
